Fishing in the Neuse
Fishing in the Neuse River can be a
remarkable experience as the variety of different fish species is quite
remarkable. Salt water fish, such as shark, porpoise, speckle trout, grey
trout, blue fish, crooker, Spanish mackerel, tarpon, will make it all the
way upriver to New Bern during certain times of the year. Large
and smallmouth bass, strip bass, flounder, drum, brim, and catfish can be

The picture below shows my brother with a remarkable
58 lb. strip bass caught in February, 2008, in the Neuse River about
2 miles from downtown New Bern.
